Wow! A new gig tonight, Philly Weekly, Good Morning Philadelphia

19 January 2000

Hi Friends,

As Olivia Newton-John would say: Suddenly, the wheels are in motion . .
.
Well, we wound up having a great night last night at the 23 east.

First off, we played really well and had a lot of fun doing it. I want to make special mention of how thankful I am that Mike Frank, Erik Johnson, Steve Beskrone, and Kevin Hanson choose to play shows with me. All of them could be doing any number of more lucrative things with their musical time and I’m very lucky.

We all want to thank the loads of you who came out last night to support us. You made it a great time for us.

So, we wound up winning this ‘Artist of the New Millennium’ thing that was going on last night. I thought all the bands (John Faye Power Trip, Orange, Don’t Look Down) played great sets and it had to be a difficult decision for the judges. Anyway, as a result, there are a couple of new things on the calendar.

Tonight we’ll be playing at the PMC Kickoff party at the Trocadero (1003 Arch Street/215.922.5483). The show is a retrospective of Philadelphia music and will feature sets by the Delfonics, Tommy Conwell and the Young Rumblers, Soul Survivors, and more. We’ll be playing at around 11:30p.

On Friday morning, I’ll be on ‘Good Morning Philadelphia’ on FOX 29. The show is on between 7-9 am. I’ll send out another email when I have a better idea of when I’ll be on.

Finally, as part of their PMC issue, the new Philadelphia Weekly has a really nice article on me (I particularly liked the phrases “pinpricks of regret” and “an overall fashion sense like some post-grunge casualty). I haven’t seen the paper version yet (god, I hope the photo doesn’t make me cringe), but you can get the text at the link below:

Sorry this email was so long. THANK YOU AGAIN TO EVERYONE WHO CAME OUT LAST NIGHT!

I’m voting against the snow,
Jim
