Get in the Milk Line

THIS SATURDAY (8.26.06)! MILKBOY - ARDMORE, PA - 9P:
I’ve been told that, while uproariously funny on a par with Shakespeare or even Erma Bombeck, my emails sometimes feature references that could use a little explanation. So, in an aim to please and make sure that you all know I’m playing this Saturday (8.26.06) 9p at MilkBoy in Ardmore, PA with my good friend Jonathan Coulton opening the show, I’ll explain some of the more obscure terms used in this emailer, even breaking things down into their component syllables when necessary.
MILK - The act of squeezing and pulling downward on an animal’s teet.
BOY - Nearly forgotten first album by U2 which features ‘I Will Follow’ and 10 additional songs you don’t remember.
ARD - How British citizens with a heavy Cockney accent pronounce the word “hard”.
MORE - Disgusting thin brown cigarettes marketed to women and popular with choir teachers.
PA - Sound system I will use to bring you musical satisfaction, though not musical “Satisfaction’.
JONATHON - A seagull Neil Diamond wrote an entire album for in the ‘7os that doesn’t even feature one song you remember.
COULTON - I was going to make an Ann Coulter joke here, but I’m so sick of the woman I don’t even want to mention her name, oh oops.

ACOUSTIC TRIPLE TREAT - JOZART’S - CALIFORNIA, PA - 8.18.06 - 7P:
Singing my songs in the ever-popular circle format in the confusingly named city state of California, PA. This may be the night I do my famous rendition of Joni Mitchell’s ‘The Circle Song’.
They say this Triple Treat is with a twist - apparently a Q&A section of the show, so ask me about whether I regret smoking 4 packs of cigarettes a day for the last 35 years now that my voice is completely unrecognizable and what it was really like working with Jaco in the ’70s.

SONGWRITER’S CIRCLE AT CLUB CAFE - PITTSBURGH, PA - 8.19.06 - 7P:
Singing my songs again in the still-popular circle format in the sort of confusingly named club and cafe called Club Cafe. This may be the night I do my famous rendition of Billy Preston’s ‘Will It Go ‘Round in Circles?’.
They say this Triple Treat is also with a twist - apparently a Q&A section of the show, so ask me about the Afro wig I used to wear in the ’70s and what it was really like working with the Beatles.

MILKBOY - ARDMORE, PA - 8.26.06 - 9P:
Coming home and having another gathering of friends at the cozy MilkBoy in Ardmore, PA.
This time the opener is Jonathan Coulton from NYC. I’ve known Jonathan for years, ever since he worked at a record company that didn’t sign me (I think it was Angel/EMI, but there were so many - anyway, it wasn’t his fault). Since then, Jonathan has become an internet musical sensation - he is actually more popular than me in the “virtual world”, luckily, we occasionally live in a thing called “reality” where I am still enormously more famous and critically acclaimed. He does know more about RSS feeds than me though, and his website can beat up my website.
He also co-wrote ‘Bubblegum 45s’ and a song from the old Ultrasound days called ‘Underneath the Glitter (Ringo’s Theme)’ that you may remember if you’re old enough to also remember Jack Benny (or, for that matter, Ringo).
Anyway, come out ’cause I’ve been on the road and it’ll be good to be back home.
