Steel City THIS Saturday - Living Room 4.20.07 and XM Radio Broadcast:

No Comments 08 April 2007

STEEL CITY COFFEEHOUSE - PHOENIXVILLE, PA - SATURDAY, 4.14.07 - 8P:
Coffee - I don’t drink it myself, but they tell me it’s become quite the rage in our modern, workaday world. Taxes - I don’t pay them myself***, but they tell me it’s become quite the drag for the for the coffee-drinking proletariat in our modern, workaday world.
So, as a special service to my fans, I will gladly do your taxes ONSTAGE between songs at Steel City Coffeehouse this coming Saturday (4.14.07) at 8p. Remarkable? Yes, but I care that deeply about you. However, unlike, say, H&R Block, I do NOT guarantee them to be accurate and I most certainly will NOT represent you if called by the I.R.S..
The incredible (really) Rachel Loshak opens though, being from the UK, she will be unlikely to offer tax advice or - as they tend to say in the UK - “advise.”
The Recap:

Steel City Coffeehouse
203 Bridge Street - Phoenixville, PA

$15 Adv / $18 DoS (unfortunately, most likely NOT tax-deductable). ALL-AGES.
Rachel Loshak opens.
***ATTENTION FRIENDLY I.R.S. AND IT’S AFFILIATES - This was a JOKE - I DO pay my taxes - you can look it up in your files (I’d prefer if you not go back past, say, I don’t know - 1998 - and BTW, please stop reading my email, I’m sure that there’s a constitutional right that protects a citizen from having his email monitored by government agencies without probable cause and as a citizen I’d just like to . . . oh, right - I forgot, sorry.).
THE LIVING ROOM - NYC - FRIDAY, 4.20.07 - 7P:
Hastily arranged for reasons I’m not allowed to speak about (I’m not sure if you heard, but the government reads my emails, so I gots to keeps things on the downlow) - still, every time at the Living Room is a treat, so that should be reason enough.
7p a bit early for you on a Friday night? Try getting up one or two hours earlier that morning - it will make it feel like a later show (you could also start drinking earlier in the day than you normally do to achieve the same effect).
I’m not promising anything special or anything (you know, besides the ALWAYS level of special-ness), but if you’re going to be in NYC that night and play clarinet or bassoon or speak French** (sadly, this last one requires that you be a male - this bums me out, but it’s the way it is), please contact me at jim@jimboggia.com ‘cuase maybe we’ll work something up/out.
I love shows at the Living Room so much, I wish they would record them and put them on a radio show or something.

** I need clarinet, bassoon and French-speaking male all at the same time (yes Mike, I know you’ve figured it out) so if, for example, you both play clarinet AND speak French - I can’t use you to do both, sorry. Although, if you had one of those old-school, Radio Shack type of cassette recorders that had the built- in speaker and the little plastic microphone (and a cassette tape), we might be able to really do something cool.
XM RADIO - FROM THE LIVING ROOM TO THE LOFT - AIRS THE WEEK OF APRIL 15TH:
Demonstrating my considerable new-found influence in the music- industry, it turns out that they ARE now recording shows at the Living Room and putting them on a radio show or something. They’re calling it “From The Living Room to the Loft” and it airs on XM’s Channel 50 - The Loft.
In a move that can only be considered dangerous and ill-advised*, the folks who put the show together decided to give an episode to me (with the insurance policy of having Mike Viola on-board as well). Recorded back in November, this was a particularly good night with Mike Frank playing keyboards and Mike Viola joining in on some of my set and taking a set of his own. You can hear the highlights not once, or twice, but THRICE on these dates and times (all times EDT):
Sunday, 4.15.07 - 6p
Tuesday, 4.17.07 - 11p
Thursday, 4.19.07 - 3a (yes, that’s 3A)
What’s that you say? YOU DON’T HAVE NO FANCY XM RADIO?
No problem. You can sign-up for a FREE 3 day trial that allows you to listen over the internet. I checked it out and they don’t even take your credit card info, so you can hear the show, check out XM and then politely decline (if you’re the sort that is against radio that actually plays cool shows like “From The Living Room to The Loft”. Also, if you’re polite.).
* I don’t actually have any asterisk-ian comment to make here, I’m just going for symmetry in the layout of the sections.
Peace,
Jim
