Jersey and Philly This Week!

THIS WEDNESDAY (10.24.07) - 9P - THE GOLDHAWK - HOBOKEN, NJ:
Hope you’re coming out this Wednesday (10.24.07) to the Goldhawk in Hoboken, NJ.
Turns out I’ll be playing this one all by myself (no opener), but I’m hoping I won’t be playing this one all by myself (no audience). Either way, it is doubtful that I’ll be playing this one: ‘All by Myself’ (no piano).
Oh yeah, and note the start time is now 9p.

THIS FRIDAY (10.26.07) - 7P - WXPN MEMBERS-ONLY 885 COUNTDOWN COSTUME PARTY - WORLD CAFE LIVE:
I’m popping in to play a couple Philly classics for this XPN members-only throwdown (and probably b joining in with some of the other acts that night as well). The event is free, but you need to RSVP to get in on the TSOP.
This is a costume party. I’d suggest coming as Sun Ra.

REMINDER #1: THIS FRIDAY (10.19.07) - CHAPLIN’S - SPRING CITY, PA:
This Friday. 8p. Chaplin’s. Spring City. Reasons to come: 1) My Gibson WILL make its triumphant return (thanks, Herb David Guitar Studio). 2) This show now features 100% MORE of the great John Faye than previously advertised. 3) My set opens with a glitzy, Vegas-style production number (there may be lasers).
The Recap:
Friday, 10.19.07 - 8p

REMINDER #2: SATURDAY, 11.03.07 - MILKBOY - ARDMORE, PA:
Saturday, 11.03.07. 7:30p. Milkboy. Ardmore. Reasons to come: 1) Phenomenally talented Tortontonian Mike Evin opens and brings his upright acoustic piano to the show. 2) The piano STAYS upright during my set and the phenomenally talented Ardmorian Mike Frank jumps up and plays it (and maybe me, too*). 3) Rumored to be the show where the “only played once a year” ‘Autumn Almanac’ performance (which, I should point out, only takes place once a year) will take place (once).
The Recap:
Saturday, 11.03.07 - 7:30p

* That is to say: I may also play the piano, NOT Mike Frank may also play me.

COMPLETELY NEW INFO #1: NEXT WEDNESDAY (10.24.07) - GOLDHAWK - HOBOKEN, NJ:
Mid-week entertainment from a middle-aged, mid-level Singer/Songwriter delivering a performance that is anything BUT fair-to-middling. Why stay at home watching reruns of ‘Malcolm in the Middle’ when you could spend it at the Goldhawk? Wish this were a more convenient weekend performance? Life is unfair.

COMPLETELY NEW INFO #2: MONDAYS IN NOVEMBER - THE LIVING ROOM - NYC:
With all the Hullabaloo about the radical business model adopted by Radiohead concerning the “pay-what-you-want” price for their new album, I’ve decided to adopt a similar approach at my four Monday night Shindigs (I’ll pause while those of you over 45 collectively laugh and groan. Finished? Fine.) at the Living Room in November. Yes, for each of these shows you can come, have a seat and then PAY WHAT YOU WANT when a red bucket is passed around. I assure you no one has ever done this before as I am truly on the bleeding leading edge of the new music economy. Come take part in this grand experiment.

Chaplin’s October and Milkboy November

FRIDAY, 10.19.07 - 8P - CHAPLIN’S - SPRING CITY, PA:
I’ll be playing my first show at Chaplin’s in about a year on Friday, 10.19.07 at 8p. Chaplin’s is a great venue to see music in - wonderful sound and lighting. This show should also mark the return of my beloved Gibson Nick Lucas guitar after its damage by US Airways (thought I’d get that in at least one more time) and repair, so I expect it will be a special show.

SATURDAY, 11.03.07 - 7:30P - MILKBOY - ARDMORE, PA:
I’ll be playing my first show at Milkboy in about a year (do you spot a trend here?) on Saturday, 11.03.07 at 7:30p. Not only has Milkboy stepped up to become the worthy successor of that seemingly irreplaceable venue, The Point, but they are also just re-opening themselves after a nasty water main burst, so please come out and give them some love.?
Come early for this one, because the opener is Mike Evin from Canada. I first met and played with Mike at the old Living Room in NYC a few years back and thought he was a modern-day Harry Nilsson / Randy Newman. When he told me he was touring, I immediately went to work to set-up this show so that we could share a stage again and so that I could share him with you. He travels with his own upright piano, which I’m sure I (and maybe an Ardmore-based, piano-playing Mike, too?)?will be making use of on my set as well.
