Lots of London (and some US, too):

‘Allo Luvs!
A whole bunch of info about my upcoming London trip, but some info for everybody no matter your geographic location, so please read.
SATURDAY, 2.09.08 - 8:30P - STEEL CITY - PHOENIXVILLE, PA:
One show stateside before the London trip. Always great shows at Steel City and come early for Curtis Eller from NYC. Tickets are already close to sold-out, so buy ‘em now.
The Recap:

SUNDAY, 2.17.08 - 6:30P - PORTOBELLO GOLD - NOTTING HILL, LONDON, UK:
Kickin’ off the ‘Jim Boggia 2008 UK Tour’ with a return to a terrific pub - Portobello Gold. I played here my last London trip and the place has great atmosphere and was a real treat. This will be the most casual gig I play while in England. A pub night with multiple sets, lots of covers and plenty of time offstage between sets to have a chat and a pint (that’s a colloquialism on my part, since I’ll be drinking Whisky and Ginger, but YOU should have a pint).
Portobello Road has a long-standing Sunday street market that is a wonderful way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Jim’s Serving Suggestion: Come out during the day and take in the Market, stop in to the Gold for a traditional Sunday Pub Roast Lunch (I believe voted best in London), do some more bargain hunting, then return for an evening of music. Chill and serve.
The Recap:

MONDAY, 2.18.08 - **CORRECTED TIME** 9:30P - 12BAR CLUB - LONDON, UK:
Another return date to a place I love to play. The 12Bar Club has a reputation as one of the places to see really good music in London, so I’m flattered that they keep having me back. This will be the most straightforward of the shows. A full set of originals (I’ll probably have to sing something British, too) just like we do it in the US of A. I really hope everyone can make it out to this one.
Jim’s Serving Suggestion: Come a bit early and stroll Denmark Street - not only the UK’s equivalent of Tin Pan Alley (which is to say, it’s where all the music publishers are), but also the name of a Kinks tune! Need more to recommend it? The 12Bar Club is directly across the street from the old Regent Sound studios where The Kinks, The Who and even The Beatles (most of ‘Fixing a Hole’ was recorded there), recorded. A host of great music stores, too.
The Recap:
Monday, 2.18.08 - 9:30p **CORRECTED TIME**

TUESDAY, 2.19.08 - 3P - WORLDSPACE UPOP SESSIONS AT ABBEY ROAD STUDIOS:
Unfortunately, this is NOT a public show, but I just can’t help myself from typing it up. Right now, it seems that UPop 29 on XM Radio will NOT be airing this live, but taping it for airing at a later date. I’ll definitely keep everyone posted and I suspect eventually this will be a Boggiamusic Podcast episode.
Jim’s Serving Suggestion: Play both the ‘Mrs. Mills’ (used on Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da, Rocky Racoon and others) piano and the Challen Upright (used on ‘Fool on the Hill’ ‘Penny Lane’ and others) piano and sing through one of the Neumann U47s that have been retrofitted (in the late 50s) with U48 electronics that four guys from Liverpool all sang on (yes, Gerry from Gerry and the Pacemakers sang through this mike - oh yeah, the Beatles, too). This serving suggestion is for myself.
The Recap:
Tuesday, 2.19.08 - 3p
JIM BOGGIA
Abbey Road Studio 2

THURSDAY, 2.21.08 - 7:30P - THE BEDFORD - BALHAM, LONDON, UK:
My first trip to London my friend John told me I HAD to go to the Bedford to see their songwrter’s circle. He said the venue was beautiful with great sound and always had really good people onstage. He was right and I’ve made sure to go there every time. I’ve been trying to get to play there on one of the songwriter circle nights and this trip it finally happens. You have to check this place out.
Jim’s Serving Suggestion: Come early, find a seat, say something to your friend like “This place is amazing - do they stage Shakespeare in here?”, savor the last notes of Boggiamusic to be heard live in London for a while.
The Recap:

UNCUT MAGAZINE - MARCH 2008 ISSUE (BUT ON SALE NOW) - FACES TRIBUTE - JIM’S COVER OF ‘DEBRIS’ FEATURED ON THE INCLUDED CD:
Yep, I’m in one of Britain’s leading music mags that’s on the stands as I hit Heathrow - do we need any further proof that Boggiamania is sweeping the UK (are you listening, Nick? Jeez)?
The Faces issue is on sale NOW in the UK and in the next couple of weeks in the US. Uncut is one of the cool music mags that they’re somehow able to have over in the UK that we in the US can’t seem to get together. I am a huge Faces fan and was so excited to be asked to record ‘Debris’ for the included CD. A special thanks to John Porter at my Bluhammock home for helping to put this all together.
Jim’s Serving Suggestion: Buy. Read. Listen. Repeat.
The Recap:
UNCUT - March 2008 issue
On sale NOW in the UK, soon in the US
Faces Tribute Included CD features a version of ‘Debris’ recorded by Jim especially for the mag.
Peace,
Jim
