Writer’s Hang. Men in Trees

No Comments 28 March 2008

THURSDAY, 4.03.08 - 8:30P - THE LAST (FOR NOW) WRITER’S HANG AT THE GOLDHAWK - HOBOKEN, NJ:
There are songwriter’s circles and there are songwriter’s circles, and then there is the Writer’s Hang. Scott E. Moore has shepherded this monthly series for the last 10 years with pheonomenal care, bringing not only a truly high-caliber level of performers to the stage, but pairing them in ways that always lead to special evenings. This is not easy and shouldn’t be taken for granted.?
I’ve been happy to be invited to take part in many of these events (it was at the Writer’s Hang that Mike Viola and I first played together and for that alone it has a special place for me), including several of the anniversary shows, and, as Scott decides to put the series on hiatus for a while, I’m honored to be asked to be a part of the last one (for now).
Cancel your plans. Come out and show support for someone who has given so much to make something special for people who love music as players and listeners alike. The crazy-talented Peter Mulvey shares the stage with Scott and I.?
Thanks for all of it, Scott.

WEDNESDAY, 4.02.08 - 10P - ‘SEVERAL THOUSAND’ (yes, I know, what you gonna do?) ON ABC-TV’S ‘MEN IN TREES’:
Since you’ll be having a big night out at the Goldhawk on Thursday night, why not stay in the evening before (Wednesday, 4.02.08) and watch the telly?
‘Several Thousand’ rears its head yet again, this time in the form of being sung by one of the stars of ‘Men in Trees’, Nick Lea. Nick has been a supporter and friend for many years and he was kind enough to suggest my music to the producers for the episode. I can’t wait to see how it’s used in the show and to hear Nick sing it.

SATURDAY, 3.22.08 - 8P - COFFEE EAST - EASTON, MD:
Finally getting back into the Baltimore area this Saturday. This will be my first time at Coffee East but I’m hearing really good things about it as a place for seeing music. I’ll be peppering my set with haunting love themes from John Waters films in honor of the event.* Cal Ripken sits in on Bass.**

MONDAY, 3.24.08 - 9P - LIVING ROOM 10TH ANNIVERSARY SHOW - NYC:
I can’t describe how much this venue has meant to me over the years, but I get a chance to pay a little gratitude by taking part in their 10th Anniversary celebration. Other acts that night include David Poe and Vienna Tang (I’m referring to it as ‘The Night of a Handful of People Who Have Shared the Stage with Duncan Sheik”, but I can’t seem to get them to put that on the poster).
