Boggia - Grape Street Pub - 4.19.01

No Comments 17 April 2001

Hey Everybody,

I’m playing my first band show in who knows how long this Thursday
(4.19.01) at the Grape Street Pub. The Jim Boggia’s hit at around 11p,
but come around 10p to see the Electric Farm and then stay late to see
Kevin Hanson.

As with ALL of the shows I have ever played in my life, you will NOT
hear me say any of the following things from stage:

* This next song is on my new CD.
* That was a song from my new CD.
* I’ve got CDs for sale at the back.
* Hey, check out my new CD.
* This next song isn’t on my new CD, but I’ve got CDs for sale at the
back.
* Make sure you sign the mailing list and while you’re at it, why not
buy a CD?

Why am I telling you this? Because this Thursday’s Grape Street show is
the end of an era; the last time that you will be able to hear my music
unfettered by shameful pleas and self-promotional plugs to buy my new
record.

However, even after this Thursday’s show at the Grape you can bank on
never hearing me say any of the following:

* Wow, I love that new Dave Matthew’s CD.
* Hop in, I’m drivin’.
* I gotta lose some weight.
* Smooth Jazz? I LOVE Smooth Jazz!
* More shrimp, please.

So come on out to the Grape Street Pub in Manayunk this Thursday and
witness the end of music for music’s sake - from now on, it’s COMMERCE
baby!

The Recap:
Thursday, April 19, 2001
Grape Street Pub
105 Grape Street - Manayunk, PA
215.483.4890

10p - Electric Farm
11p - Jim Boggia
12a - Kevin Hanson

Seriously, I really hope to see a lot of you there. All the bands know
each other and there will probably be some playing on each other’s sets
and it should be a special night. Try to make it on out.

Jim

P.S. - This is not a CD release announcement.

Boggia - Where the Street has 4 names

Hi All,

This week, I come to you promoting the second of three April shows I’ll
be involved in.

Being the second of three puts this show in the often overlooked,
middle-child spot. Think of this Friday’s show as the Jan Brady of my
April appearances.

Won’t you consider boosting Jan’s fragile self-esteem by coming to the
Temperance House in Newtown this Friday to see 4 Way Street - the
Manayunk musical juggernaut that features Scott Bricklin, Ben Arnold,
Joseph Parsons and myself singing, playing, laughing, loving and
sometimes even giving you a little something to think about.

Just because we didn’t get to date Davy Jones doesn’t mean we don’t have
something to offer.

And don’t forget: Next Thursday (4.19.01) is my lithping Thindy Brady
show with my very own band at the Grape Street Pub. Come out that night
and discover that I’m really NOT allergic to Tiger, just the flea
powder!

The Recap:

Next week, on a very special ‘Blossom’:
I announce something you never thought would actually happen (and
promote the Grape Street show one more time).

Thanks,
Jim

P.S. Marcia, Marcia, Marcia! (thanks to everyone who came out to hang at
Bobby’s last Thursday).

Boggia - Sometimes there’s Shows in April

Hey Cats and Kittens,

This month I package myself up in three different boxes and jump on the
shelf of live music in hopes that you might put me in your shopping cart
of audiencial love.

First up, another wild night tomorrow (4.5.01) with me and Ben Arnold
upstairs at Bobby G’s. What more can be said about our Thursday nights
at Bobby’s that you haven’t already read in the Police Blotter section
of the newspaper? Um, not much. Come out - you’ll have fun.

Next Friday, no NOT two days from now, that’s this Friday, NEXT Friday
(4.13.01) I appear with everybody’s favorite new Manayunk Supergroup - 4
Way Street (that’s me, Ben, Joseph Parsons and Scott Bricklin) at the
Temperance House in Newtown. I don’t really know where that is, but
someone’s picking me up and driving me so I’m not worried about it.

If you’d like to hear a sample of what you’ll be hearing there, call
WXPN during either Michaela’s or Helen’s shows and ask them to play one
of the live 4 Way Street selections from our North Star throwdown. I
know how helpful it would be for me to include ‘XPN’s phone number here,
but I’m already running so late you wouldn’t believe it (I’m still
trying to finish 1993) and you probably know it anyway.

Finally, remember when I used to have a band that played my songs with
me? Well freshen your memory Thursday, April 19th (4.19.01) at the Grape
Street Pub. Not only will I be there with my band (Mike Frank, Erik
Johnson, Kevin Hanson and Scott Bricklin), but Kevin and Erik will do
double duty and be joined by Jim Stager for a Kevin Hanson set. AND our
friends from way back when, the Electric Farm are returning and Mike
will probably jump up onstage with them, so how could you miss this?

Finally, The Recap:
Thursday, April, 5, 2001 - 10p
Bobby G’s - Roxborough, PA
6800 Ridge Avenue
215.482.1877
with Surprises

Friday, April 13, 2001
The Temperance House - Newtown. PA

215.860.0474
with Bob Lowerey

Thursday, April 19, 2001 - 10p
Grape Street Pub - Manayunk, PA

with The Electric Farm and Kevin Hanson

April. It’s Thrice the Fun! (TM)
Jim

BTW, My scheduled April 16th at the Bitter End in nyc has been postponed
due to the fact that then I would have four gigs in April and I spent a
lot of money on “Thrice the Fun” t-shirts and bumper stickers.

Remember, you can do this everyday!
